There are a number transportation services designed to serve senior citizens in Dutchess County. Below is a summary of those which are funded by county and local governments as well as those carried out by volunteer organizations.

Castle Point will transport veterans to medical appointments at Veteran's Hospitals.  Call 831-2000 x5145

Community Resources and Services Center of Pawling - Volunteer drivers who assist Pawling seniors with transportation needs to doctors' offices or medical facilities. They will leave Dutchess County to travel to Putnam County or nearby Connecticut. For more information, call 855-3459.

Community Senior Transportation Program (485-1277) is for LaGrange and Pleasant Valley senior citizens for recreation and shopping.  No medical appointments and this service is not wheelchair accessible.

Dial-A-Ride- Funded by participating municipalities and Dutchess County government. Service is provided by the Dutchess County Division of Public Transit Bus System and is available in the Towns of Amenia, Dover, East Fishkill, Fishkill, Hyde Park, North East, Pine Plains, Poughkeepsie, Stanford, Wappinger, Washington, and the City of Poughkeepsie. Pre-registration is required. Dutchess County Office For The Aging' Vans and Buses transport seniors to our 8 Senior Friendship Centers along with shopping and recreational trips that the centers offer.  Call 486-2555 for information about the center nearest you.

Dutchess County Paratransit - Operated by Dutchess County Public Transit and provides transportation services in a number of locations from a rider’s home to his or her destination. Reservations are required and service availability may be limited. For more information, call 473-8424.  In addition, ADA Complimentary Paratransit Service is available for qualified individuals who live within 3/4 mile of a regularly scheduled bus route.  For more information about these services, call Dutchess County Division of Public Transit at 473-8424.

Friends of Seniors provides transportation (and other services) to seniors.  For information call 485-1277.

North East Community Center - Provides transportation services to residents of North East, Millerton, Amenia, Dover, and Wassaic via the Care Car.  They also coordinate the Northeast Dutchess Transportation Program which can additionally assist residents of Pine Plains, Standford and Washington. Town of Rhinebeck (876-3409) provides transportation to independently living senior citizen residents of Rhinebeck.

Your Local Congregation may have a transportation program.  Call them for information.
