Poughkeepsie… Fans visiting Dutchess Stadium tomorrow evening for the Hudson Valley Renegades season opener will be in for surprise when they see the right field corridor of the stadium sectioned off and rock excavation underway. Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus has announced significant improvements are now underway to continue to enhance the enjoyment experience at Dutchess Stadium for residents and visitors alike.
County Executive Steinhaus said, “Residents looking for something great to do this summer always know they can head to Dutchess Stadium for a night of family fun at a Hudson Valley Renegades game. The improvements now underway at the stadium will help make a great experience even better!”
The work at Dutchess Stadium is part of County Executive Steinhaus’ 2006 Comprehensive Parks Plan will feature $1.5 million worth of improvements to the stadium. The projects now in progress include landscaping of the right field corridor, electrical upgrades and an improved front entryway. The new right field improvements will create new picnic areas for fans with improved sight lines so picnickers will enjoy a great view of the game. The Hudson Valley Renegades will also expand the concession areas to this new section for additional choices for fans to purchase food, beverages or souvenirs.
The new front entryway will include signage welcoming visitors to Dutchess Stadium and will widen the entry area for improved traffic flow, reducing bottlenecking of anxious fans eager to get into the stadium and better access to the main concourse concession and retail areas.
Hudson Valley Renegades President Jeff Goldklang said, “We are always working to provide families with fun and enjoyment at every game. We appreciate the support and partnership of Dutchess County Government to ensure we can continue to provide the best possible experience for our fans at Dutchess Stadium.”
Additional improvements at the conclusion of the playing season will include field upgrades to meet new compliance regulations for Minor League play. Contracts for the field replacement are now underway and work is anticipated to begin immediately following the playing season.
