Concert & Fireworks at the Bandshell at Bowdoin Park

Poughkeepsie….  Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus has announced the Dutchess County Parks Department will sponsor a FREE summer concert at the Bandshell at Bowdoin Park on Saturday, July 12th starting at 4pm.    The event will feature three local bands, followed by a spectacular fireworks display at dark.

“Residents are looking to stay local and take advantage of fun recreational opportunities to enjoy with family and friends.   Dutchess County Parks are the perfect place to do that,” said County Executive Steinhaus.   “This concert at the Bandshell at Bowdoin is a great way to celebrate a summer evening – enjoying local musical talent with the majestic Hudson River providing a beautiful backdrop.”

Concert goers will be able to enjoy a variety of music styles from three local bands showcasing their talents.

  • The Chain Gang will get the music started at 4pm covering favorite contemporary music hits from the 60’s right through to today
  • Dangling Success, a jazz/rock band reminiscent of Steely Dan, will perform at 6pm.
  • The Big Band Sound is a 20 piece jazz band performing classic jazz with songs from artists such as Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey and more.    The Big Band Sound will perform at 7:30pm.

Refreshments will be available for purchase from New Hamburg Fire Department.   Following the concert performances, Legion Fireworks will put on a spectacular firework display to close out the evening.

“Bring some lawn chairs and blankets, pack a picnic and head to Bowdoin Park.   Let the kids splash in the spray turtles and have fun on the playground.   Take a hike through the trails or walk through the nature center.    Then stretch out on hillside and relax while listening to great music and enjoying fabulous fireworks,” concluded County Executive Steinhaus.

Bowdoin Park is located on Sheafe Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie.   Additional information is available at or call the Parks Department at 298-4600.
