Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus is pleased to announce that Dutchess County’s STOP-DWI Program Coordinator William C. Johnson was recently honored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) with a special recognition award as one of the leading STOP-DWI Coordinators in the New York State at the 2008 Law Enforcement Recognition Luncheon held in Schenectady, NY.
“This is a well-deserved honor. Bill Johnson’s unwavering commitment to deter drunk driving has been instrumental in the success of Dutchess County’s STOP-DWI and Traffic Safety programs, which are viewed as model programs throughout New York State,” said County Executive Steinhaus.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office was also honored at the MADD Recognition Luncheon receiving a “Law Enforcement Department Award” for their comprehensive efforts to combat drunk driving with an emphasis on the identification and detection of impaired drivers.
The Law Enforcement Recognition Luncheon was sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving in conjunction with the NYS Division of Criminal justice Services, the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, and the NYS STOP-DWI Association. This annual luncheon is hosted in honor of drunk driving crash victims and their families and it is opportunity to recognize and thank the law enforcement community who work tirelessly in keeping New York State roads safe from drunk drivers.
