Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus has released his 2010 State of the County report to the Dutchess County Legislature. On Wednesday evening, County Executive Steinhaus will speak at the Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce’s monthly dinner meeting at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel to discuss what is going on in Dutchess County as well as some of his priorities for 2010 as outlined in the State of the County report. County Executive Steinhaus will be joined by County department heads to provide insight to how Dutchess County government operates, particularly during these challenging economic times.
The over-arching theme of the 2010 State of the County is Expectations vs. Deliverables in a Challenging Economy. The report outlines the local and state economic conditions; reviews the County’s current fiscal position and details the wealth of services and programs provided to the residents of Dutchess County.
“As the difficult economy continues, the expectations of our residents change. Many residents find themselves needing to utilize county services when they never have before. At the same time taxpayers are calling on us to cut spending and control property taxes,” said County Executive Steinhaus. “The challenge we face as county government is responding to those very diverse expectations in a balanced, responsible way.”
