Dutchess County Website Offline February 11-12 for Major Network Upgrade
Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County’s national award winning website www.dutchessny.gov will be off-line on Friday, February 11 and Saturday, February 12 as part of a major network upgrade. This upgrade will ensure the County’s “network backbone” remains robust for County systems and resident services. Email communications to and from the County will also be off-line during the two day period.
“So many of our residents, businesses and local municipalities have come to rely on our county website, particularly for key applications like ParcelAccess, County Clerk Document Search and many more,” said County Executive Steinhaus. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however, this network upgrade is critical so that we can ensure we have the infrastructure to provide efficiencies to county staff and service improvements and cost savings to our taxpayers.”
This network upgrade is part of our IP Phone/Network Upgrade initiative proposed by County Executive Steinhaus and approved by the Dutchess County Legislature last year. The new Unified Communications System (UCS) will replace the County’s current antiquated phone system with an Internet Protocol (IP) based system that leverages the County’s fiber optic network to merge computer data and voice services. This new communication system will reduce annual operating costs by 54% and result in net county property taxpayers saving of $2.4 million over 10 years.
