County to Host Public Forum on Service Needs for People with Development Disabilities
Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus has announced a public forum on service needs for persons with developmental disabilities and their families will be held on Tuesday, March 8th from 4-6 P.M. in the Multi-Purpose Room at the Mental Health Center located at 230 North Road in Poughkeepsie. The event is open to all Dutchess County residents and is being sponsored by the Developmental Disabilities Subcommittee of the Dutchess County Mental Hygiene Board.
Dutchess County Commissioner of Mental Hygiene Dr. Kenneth M. Glatt said, “The input from those who attend the forum will assist the Department in the formulation of the 2012 Local Governmental Plan. We invite consumers, family members, service providers and all interested residents to share their concerns, suggestions and experiences to determine what services can assist people with developmental disabilities live successfully in our community.”
Karen Trokan, LCSW, Division Chief for Developmental Disabilities Services, will moderate the meeting. The Mental Hygiene Board’s Developmental Disabilities Subcommittee is a planning and advisory group of volunteer citizens. Ms. Trokan serves as Staff Liaison to the Subcommittee, whose nine members are appointed by the Mental Hygiene Board.
