The Margaret J. Ives Award for Outstanding Service recognizes an individual who has exemplified excellence through their dedication, expertise and professionalism in serving Social Services staff. The award, created in 2002, is given each year in honor of Margaret “Peg” Ives, a Staff Development Coordinator for Wayne County Department of Social Services.
Michael Soltish has been Department of Social Services employee for 31 years. He began his career as a Social Welfare Worker in the Temporary Assistance Unit. He served as a caseworker and then as Social Welfare Specialist Supervisor of the Fraud division. As Staff Development Coordinator, Mr. Soltish has responsibility for ensuring Social Services employees have the necessary information and tools to provide services to clients in a competent, objective and professional manner.
Mr. Soltish has been committed to the recognition of Social Services employees for their achievements and their daily commitment to the Department of Social Services’ mission. Michael Soltish has been an active member of many statewide committees, work groups and projects. His knowledge of the issues and needs of local Service Districts have made him a valuable resource for others across New York State.
“Mike Soltish exemplifies the values of the Margaret J. Ives Award and we are thrilled to see him recognized,” said Commissioner of Social Services Robert Allers. “It is particularly gratifying to have Mike honored for this prestigious award since he is always behind the scenes making sure our employees are recognized for their hard work.”
