Residents Encouraged to Celebrate Local Veterans

Poughkeepsie…Veterans Day is Friday, November 11th.    Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus and Division of Veterans Services Director Nelson Eddy Rivera, USN (Ret) encourage Dutchess County residents to celebrate our veterans on November 11th by participating in one or more of the numerous Veterans Day events planned across the county.   Veterans Day is a national holiday intended to be a celebration to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

County Executive Steinhaus said, “Veterans Day is a wonderful opportunity for each of us to take the time to say THANK YOU to all of our local veterans for their dedicated and loyal service to our country. Attend one of the many events being hosted throughout our community this week, take a moment to shake a veteran’s hand and let them all know how much we appreciate the sacrifices they have made to keep our country free.”

“Our veterans represent the best of America. Coming from every background and every walk of life, they represent the rich tapestry of our nation and the multitude of cultures that make the United States a great place to live,” said Dutchess County Division of Veterans Services Director Nelson Eddy Rivera, USN (Ret).

The Dutchess County Division of Veterans Services reached out to local municipalities and community organizations and has compiled a listing of events taking place on or around Veterans Day.   The event listing follows below with contact information provided for additional inquiries.
