Steinhaus Invites Molinaro to Statewide County Executive Meeting
Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus invited County Executive-elect Marcus J. Molinaro to join him at the New York State County Executive Association (NYSCEA) meeting being held today at the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC) offices in Albany, New York. The meeting is one of multiple NYSCEA meetings held throughout the year that provide county executives from across the state an opportunity to discuss public policy issues and strategize how to address issues facing counties with a unified approach. Today’s meeting will focus on setting the organization’s agenda for the coming year including how counties may be impacted by the Governor’s upcoming state budget proposal.
County Executive Steinhaus said, "This meeting is an ideal opportunity for County Executive-elect Molinaro to meet many of his county executive colleagues from across the state. He can then begin working with them immediately in the new year on the challenging issues facing counties that require a strong, unified voice."
“Today’s meeting and introductions are part of our continuing effort to ensure a successful, seamless transition as County Executive-elect Molinaro prepares to assume the role of County Executive on January 1st,” continued Steinhaus.
County Executive Steinhaus has been involved with both NYSCEA and NYSAC since 1976. He has served as Past President for both organizations.
NYSAC is a non-profit bi-partisan association serving the 62 counties of New York State, including New York City. The association was organized in 1925, and remains the only statewide municipal association representing the interests of close to 5,000 county officials, including legislators, supervisors, county executives, administrators, commissioners and other county employees. Every county in the state is a member of NYSAC.
NYSCEA is an affiliate organization of NYSAC. There are seventeen County Executives serving county governments in New York State.
County Executive-elect Molinaro said, “County governments statewide are faced with many significant issues, particularly in these difficult economic conditions. I look forward to working together with leaders from across the state to tackle those issues.”
Molinaro continued, “I have reached out and met with several of my County Executive colleagues in neighboring counties and I appreciate today’s opportunity to meet with other county executives from across the state that I will be working with. I am fortunate to already know many of them through my work as a NYS Assemblyman, my role on Governor Cuomo’s transition team, as well as my work on the Governor’s Mandate Relief team. Once County Executive, I look forward to working with these leaders even more closely for new ideas and strategic approaches that address the issues we collectively face as county government leaders.”
County Executive Steinhaus added, “The guidance and support I have received from my fellow county executives over the years has been invaluable to me. I have learned much from my colleagues and I am pleased to have the opportunity to introduce County Executive-elect Molinaro to this strong group of leaders who I know will provide him with the same support as he begins his new administration.”
