County Seeks Proposals for Youth Program Funding

Poughkeepsie, NY… The Dutchess County Division of Youth Services is requesting proposals from municipalities and non-profit community based organizations for New York State Office of Children and Family Services program funding for 2013.

Program funding will be awarded in the following categories:

  • Special Delinquency Prevention Programs (SDPP)
  • Youth Development Delinquency Prevention (YDDP)
  • Runaway and Homeless Youth Act (RHYA).

Grants will be awarded to programs that provide free direct service to Dutchess County residents, up to 21 years of age for calendar year 2013.  Eligible agencies should be either municipalities or nonprofit community-based organizations with a federal identification number and charity registration.  Each funding stream has different matching fiscal requirements, targeted populations, and recommended service methods.  Agencies which are applying for this funding for the first time should call Youth Services Director June Ellen Notaro at 486-3660 to clarify the program meets the required guidelines.

The Dutchess County Youth Board’s funding priorities are based on the NYS OCFS Life Areas:  Economic Security, Physical & Emotional Health, Education, Citizenship/Civic Engagement, Family, and Community.

The Division of Youth Services has scheduled a Grant Workshop for nonprofit agencies and municipalities on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Community Room, 19 Tucker Drive, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.   Grant application packets will be distributed at the workshop as well as a review on how to complete the paperwork.  Grant documents will also be available online at www.dutchessny.gov on Friday, August 24th under Youth Services.

Agencies and municipalities should call 486-3661 to confirm attendance.

All grants are due to the Division of Youth Services on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 by 3:00 pm.  Agencies should allow for adequate mail delivery time for grants to arrive before the due date or should plan to hand deliver the grant applications.

Funding is made available through the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).   In 2012, 31 programs were awarded a total of $277,971 in funding to serve over 17,400 youth.    Dutchess County’s 2013 allocation of funding has not yet been announced.
