Culvert Replacement Work to begin on North Quaker Hill Road in Pawling

Poughkeepsie…Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro has announced the Dutchess County Department of Public Works will begin work, late week, to replace a deficient culvert on North Quaker Hill Road (CR 68) in the Town of Pawling. Culver PA-03 allows a tributary of the Ten Mile River to pass under North Quaker Hill Road and has been found to be structurally deficient. Work on the culvert, located approximately 1.5 miles north of the intersection of Old Quaker Hill Road (CR-66) and approximately one thousand feet west of the Connecticut border on North Quaker Hill Road, will close the road to through traffic at the work site while the project is underway.

Starting Friday, August 1st, motorists will be detoured around North Quaker Hill Road via local roads, county routes, NYS Routes 22 and 55 as well as various Connecticut roadways. Detour signage will be placed in advance to alert motorists of the pending closure. Work is expected to take several weeks, with completion scheduled by mid-September.

County Executive Molinaro said, “Ensuring our roadways and bridges are safe and well maintained is top priority for Dutchess County Government. Our road system keeps commerce and business activity moving, and serves as an important part of our overall economic development strategy.”

North Quaker Hill Road averages approximately 250 cars per day.
