Transportation Council to Host Workshops to Gather Public Input for its Long-range Transportation Plan

Poughkeepsie, NY...The Poughkeepsie-Dutchess County Transportation Council (PDCTC) will host a series of workshops to gather public input about the transportation needs and priorities throughout Dutchess County. The input will assist the council as it develops its new long-range Metropolitan Transportation Plan: Moving Dutchess 2. The 25-year plan, which builds upon 2011’s Moving Dutchess, seeks to identify strategies and recommendations to preserve the existing transportation system and meet future travel demands in Dutchess County.

All Dutchess County residents are welcome to attend any of the scheduled workshops; however, each workshop will place specific focus on a particular region within the county, as noted below.

Wednesday, September 9th, 6-8 pm at Fishkill Town Hall (807 Route 52, Fishkill)
(City of Beacon, the Towns of Fishkill and Wappinger, and the Villages of Fishkill and Wappingers Falls)

Tuesday, September 15th, 6-8 pm at Beekman Town Hall (4 Main Street, Poughquag)

Wednesday, September 16th, 6-8 pm at the City of Poughkeepsie Public Safety Building (505 Main Street, Poughkeepsie)
(City and Town of Poughkeepsie)

Monday, September 21st, 6-8 pm at Hyde Park Town Hall (4383 Albany Post Road (Route 9), Hyde Park)
(Towns of Hyde Park, Red Hook, and Rhinebeck, and the Villages of Red Hook, Rhinebeck, and Tivoli)

Tuesday, September 22nd, 6:30-8:30 pm at Dover Town Hall (126 East Duncan Hill Road, Dover Plains)
(Towns of Amenia, Dover, and North East, and the Village of Millerton)

Wednesday, September 23rd, 6-8 pm at Pine Plains Town Hall (3284 Route 199, Pine Plains)
(Towns of Clinton, Milan, Pine Plains, Pleasant Valley, Stanford, and Washington, and the Village of Millbrook)

In addition to the scheduled workshops, the PDCTC has issued a brief survey requesting the public’s input in identifying and prioritizing the county’s transportation needs. The survey will be available until September 8th. To participate in the survey, go to: http://www.surveymonkey.com/MovingDutchess2. Please note that all survey responses are kept anonymous.

“The PDCTC has already received more than 700 responses to their transportation survey,” said County Executive Marc Molinaro. “We are continuing our outreach efforts by offering these public workshops which will provide additional opportunities for residents to have their concerns heard. I encourage all residents to take part in the transportation survey and attend one of the scheduled workshops. Your input will help us to recognize and map out the county’s transportation needs moving forward.”

More information about the PDCTC and Moving Dutchess 2 is available at http://www.dutchessny.gov/pdctc.htm.

About the PDCTC: Established in 1982, the PDCTC serves as the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Dutchess County. Federal regulations require that Urbanized Areas (U.S. Census defined metropolitan areas with over 50,000 people) be represented by a MPO, which is responsible for ensuring that Federal highway and transit funds are committed through a locally driven, comprehensive planning process. The PDCTC includes representatives from local municipalities, the New York State Department of Transportation, and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
