Poughkeepsie… County Executive William R. Steinhaus has approved a contract for the 2002 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) awards for $25,000 to Town of Stanford.
The Town of Stanford will use the grant money to construct a pedestrian walkway, approximately one mile in length with a compact gravel base, around the perimeter of the Town Recreation Park on Creamery Road. The project has received strong community support and will increase recreation opportunities for all Town residents, including those with physical limitations.
This award was granted based upon priorities previously established in the County’s Consolidated Plan for the use of CDBG funds. The plan has been accepted and approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
County Executive Steinhaus stated, ”Through a multi-million dollar annual appropriation from HUD, Dutchess County is pleased to be able to help fund necessary infrastructure improvements in our localities, and in this case to help improve public access to a valuable community resource.”
The CDBG funding is administered by the Dutchess County Department of Planning and Development through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and provides grant funds to municipalities and human service agencies to benefit low to moderate-income residents of Dutchess County.
