County Executive Announces Construction Start
to Improvements at LaGrange Intersection

County Executive William R. Steinhaus, today, announced the start of construction for the $500,000 traffic safety project to improve the Noxon Road (CR 21)/Old Noxon Road/Robinson Lane Intersection in LaGrange.  “Beginning this week and continuing through the summer season, work will commence on improving the safety and efficiency of this important intersection.” said the County Executive, “ We have timed the start of this project to coincide with summer vacation at the adjacent Noxon Road Elementary School, however, we also thought it important to inform the general public since Noxon Road (County Route 21) is used by approximately 10,000 vehicles everyday.”  “By informing people about the project,” continued Mr. Steinhaus, “we can allow our commuters to avoid delays by planning an alternate route and request that drivers still planning to use Noxon Road be aware of the work zone.

The project will reduce the curve and sag in Noxon Road and improve visibility to the approach of the Noxon Road/Robinson Lane intersection. The completed project will include the installation of a fully activated traffic light and left-turn stacking lanes to increase the efficiency and safety of the intersection, which is in close proximity to the entrance of the Noxon Road Elementary School.  The County Executive said, “Safety of the children who ride dozens of school buses using this intersection is of paramount importance to me.  The added stack-up turning lanes and traffic signal will increase the safety of the school buses and parents seeking to turn left and drop off or pick up children at the elementary school as well as the motorists that use this intersection daily.”
