The funds am part of the Ryan White CARE. (Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Act) grant which the county has received since 1995. Funds are applied for by Steinhaus to the federal government on an annual basis to provide services for those people living with HIV disease within Dutchess County.

Funds supporting these particular contracts enable the community-based organizations to provide food to individuals in need, to supply the food pantry inventory, to provide case management services, and otherimportant activities.

Steinhaus said, "This is an important part of our effort and commitment to serve those individuals and families impacted by RD and Aids."

The County Executive also ad" "Fortunately we have three wonderful human service agencies right here in the City of Poughkeepsie that respond to our residents! health needs. This is especially important since many communities have concentrations of these service needs in the urban centers like the City of Poughkeepsie."

Steinhaus concluded, "I am hopeful these services will also enhance our effort to respond to this very difficult health challenge."
