County Executive Announces New Service in Millerton
through Office of Veterans’ Affairs

Poughkeepsie. . . County Executive William R. Steinhaus announced the Dutchess County Office of Veterans Affairs will offer a new service for veterans in conjunction with the VA Mobile Clinic from the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System.

According to the County Executive, “This outreach is an attempt to make it convenient for veterans in the northeastern and eastern areas of the County to learn about the benefits they deserve without having to travel into Poughkeepsie.  Our Deputy Director, Nelson Eddy Rivera, will be available to answer questions and help those who have served our country determine which benefits they are eligible for and provide information about how to obtain them.”

Steinhaus said, “It is more important than ever to honor the people who have served in the armed forces, and easing their travel burden is one way we can reach more veterans and assist them in receiving aid.”

Mr. Rivera will be at the American Legion Post 178 in Millerton every third Thursday of the month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning November 15, 2001.  No appointment is required.  For further information, please contact the Office of Veterans’ Affairs at 845/486-2060.
