County Veterans’ Affairs Office Offers Health Care System I.D. Card Pictures and Flu Shots for Veterans, Says County Executive

Poughkeepsie. . . Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus announced the Office of Veterans’ Affairs and the V.A. Hudson Valley Health Care System at Castle Point will be conducting registration and picture taking for the VA Health Care Identification Card as well as offering free flu shots for veterans at two locations on November 16, 2001.

“Obtaining the I.D. card will simplify access to veterans’ benefits at any Hudson Valley Health Care System location, including Castle Point,” said Steinhaus.  “Hopefully, by offering the picture-taking in two locations and the free flu shot at the same time, we can save the veterans a second trip to Beacon or Poughkeepsie and encourage more people to obtain their cards and flu shots.”

Veterans should bring their Military Separation Papers to one of the following locations to obtain their flu shot and/or picture.

Veterans’ Affairs Office,  223 Main Street, Beacon, NY 9 - 11 a.m.
Veteran’s Affairs Office, 22 Market Street, 4th Floor, Poughkeepsie, NY 2 - 4 p.m.

Any questions should be directed to the Veterans’ Affairs Office at 845/486-2060 or Castle Point at 845/831-2000, Extension 5121.
