Flu Shots, Your Best Defense!
Flu vaccine readily available throughout region

Poughkeepsie…Dutchess County Commissioner of Health Kari Reiber, MD, applauds the healthcare community for their diligent efforts to ensure influenza vaccine is widely available.

“Ten years ago, our community experienced a severe shortage of flu vaccine,” said Reiber. “Today, everyone has access to a provider, pharmacy, retail outlet, or clinic to receive their flu shot, flu mist, or egg-free flu vaccine.”

Dr. Reiber noted the consistent efforts of those in public health and the healthcare community to work together to make access to flu vaccine a priority.

“Now is the perfect time to get your flu vaccine,” said Reiber. “In fact, you can add it on to your next shopping list for when you go to the supermarket or pharmacy.” Everyone six months of age and older should be vaccinated to protect themselves, families, and the community against the flu. Flu vaccine is available at healthcare providers, pharmacies, and other retail outlets, some by walk-in and others by appointment.

Dutchess County Department of Health Clinic will be offering flu vaccines by appointment on Mondays at their new location at 29 North Hamilton Street in Poughkeepsie. To schedule an appointment, please call 845-486-3535 or email clinics@DutchessNY.gov
