Healthy Dutchess

How can I help make Dutchess County the healthiest in New York State?

Dutchess County Department of Health recently launched the Community Health Improvement Plan, a 5-year effort to become the healthiest county in the state.  From promoting healthier food options and physical activity to maintaining safe streets and preventing workplace injuries, everyone has a role to play in making our communities and families healthier.

Dutchess County’s plan has four priority areas:

  • Reduce childhood and adult obesity
  • Increase access to high-quality chronic disease preventive care and management in both clinical and community settings
  • Reduce the burden of tick-borne diseases
  • Prevent substance abuse, specifically non-medical use of prescription pain relief drugs

Why should I get involved?

  • Health and quality of life rely on many community systems and factors, not simply on a well-functioning health and medical care system.
  • Wellness programs play a key role in preventing disease and injury, improving health, and enhancing quality of life.

What can I do to be a part of Healthy Dutchess?
