Dutchess County Breastfeeding Support & Education Center
Grand Opening Friday, November 6th

Poughkeepsie… The Dutchess County Department of Health will open its Breastfeeding Support & Education Center on Friday, November 6th at 10 a.m. to begin offering information and training to mothers and mothers-to-be. The Center will be located at the Family Partnership Center, 29 N. Hamilton St., Suite 109, in the City of Poughkeepsie.

The Center’s Walk-In Clinic will be open on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to offer individuals breastfeeding assistance and education on a “walk-in” basis.  Appointments and breastfeeding support and education services will also be available by phone, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., by calling (845) 486-3419.

“We are pleased to offer residents lactation education before delivery and support after delivery,” said Kari Reiber, MD, Commissioner of Health.  “Since breastfeeding is the best feeding option for newborns, as well as one of the best methods towards the prevention of chronic disease, we want to offer new and expecting mothers and their families the opportunity to learn the benefits and ease of breastfeeding.”
