Q.  Are there bike trails at any of the County parks?

Yes, the Harlem Valley Rail Trail allows biking and rollerblading.    The Dutchess Rail Trail, which also allows biking and rollerblading, is fully completed and starts at Hopewell Depot and connects to the Walkway Over the Hudson in the City of Poughkeepsie.

However, Wilcox, Bowdoin, and Quiet Cove DO NOT allow biking on nature trails, only on paved park roadways.

Q.  Can I bring in outside boats, canoes, etc. to any of the County parks?

Wilcox and Bowdoin Parks do not allow outside boats, canoes, etc.  Quiet Cove allows non-motorized "car-top" launching such as canoes, kayaks, rowboats to be launched into the river.

Q.  Can I bring my own firewood to Wilcox or Bowdoin Park?

No, outside firewood is not permitted.

Q.  How do I find out which County parks will allow dogs?

The regulations regarding pets in Dutchess County's Bowdoin Park and Wilcox Memorial Park and Quiet Cove require that dogs be on a leash which is no more than six feet.

For New York State parks, visit the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation website that allows you to search by state park and/or by region as well as by attractions to find a list of state parks meeting the selected criteria.  Along with general park information, each park listed will give information about whether or not pets are permitted.

Q.  How do I find out about events and/or rental opportunities for Dutchess Stadium?

By calling the Hudson Valley Renegades office at (845) 838-0094.

Q.  Where can I make reservations for camping at a park?

On-line reservations can be made for camping and pavilion rentals at Wilcox Park, Bowdoin Park facility rentals are also made on-line. THERE ARE NO RENTAL FACILITIES AT QUIET COVE PARK. Use the county’s on-line Parks Reservation System to make reservations.

To make camping reservations at other (non-county owned) parks in the area, visit the Reserve America website.

Q.  Can I reserve a part of a park for a function such as a party, meeting, or wedding?

Yes, Dutchess County’s parks offer various pavilions, buildings and athletic fields that can be reserved for parties and other functions.  The Dutchess County Parks Brochures and Maps an on-line reservations webpage contains links to the Parks Division’s brochures (.pdf) where you'll find photos, prices and other details regarding all of these facilities.  Fee schedules for Bowdoin Park and Wilcox Park are also available. Please Note: THERE ARE NO RENTAL FACILITIES AT QUIET COVE PARK. All reservation times must be within the individual park's hours and subject to insurance requirements.

Q.  Is there an entrance fee to Wilcox Park?

Yes, but only on days when the swimming lake is open. See the Wilcox Park Fee Schedule for entrance fees.

Q.  When is the swimming lake open at Wilcox Park?

The swimming lake, row boat rentals, paddle boat rentals and mini golf will be open 5days a week starting June 22nd 2017 (Thursdays through Mondays-Swimming Lake closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays).Entrance fees are required to enter the park on days that the swimming lake is open. There is a fee to rent the paddle boats and row boats, play mini golf.  Fishing is only allowed on the smaller upper lake and you will need a valid fishing license.  No Ice Fishing allowed.

Q.  What activities are available at Quiet Cove Riverfront Park?

There are no rental facilities at Quiet Cove. Picnic and take in the view. Non-motorized "car top" boat launch, fishing, grilling sites, and picnic areas.

Q.  What is the schedule for the Water Sprinklers at Bowdoin Park?

The Water Feature area at Bowdoin Park  is open from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day  daily from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.  Please check back for updated information! 

Q.  What services are available at the parks?

The Dutchess County Parks Division provides summer youth programs as well as programs for school and community groups.  Subject matter includes survival, prehistoric Native American and environmental studies, maple sugaring, archaeology, Archery and more. Call the Park Naturalist at 845-298-4602 for mor information. Visit Dutchess County Parks Brochures and Maps to access the Parks Division’s brochures, which explain their programs and facilities in detail, and to access nature and hiking trail system maps of  Bowdoin and Wilcox Park.
