Legislature Urges Residents to Participate in County Government
Chairman Rolison announces vacancies on Mental Hygiene Board

Chairman Robert Rolison (R-Poughkeepsie) announced today the Dutchess County Legislature has positions available on the Mental Hygiene Board. Comprised of local citizen members, the Board is an advisory group that works in consultation with the Commissioner of Mental Hygiene to create annual, intermediate and long-range plans of mental hygiene services in Dutchess County.  All members provide an integral role in relaying to the Commissioner of Mental Health and the County Legislature on all matters related to the mental health needs of the County.

"Our goal has always been to improve the quality of life for our residents,” said Rolison. “Individuals throughout the community who are in need of care are served in one or more of the many programs provided by the department which are available, accessible and affordable. The input provided by the Mental Hygiene Board plays a critical role in both representing and seeking support of the community in regard to meeting their mental hygiene needs."

Anyone who would like to be considered for this volunteer position must send a resume and a brief letter of interest to the Dutchess County Legislature no later than August 23, 2013.  The appointment will require an interview by the Family and Human Services Sub-Committee who will make its recommendations to the full Legislature.  Appointment materials can be sent to the Dutchess County Legislature, Attention of Catherine Durland at 22 Market Street, 6th Floor, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601, faxed to 486-2113, or e-mailed to cdurland@dutchessny.gov.
