Bolner: Resident Input Requested in Tick Task Force Informational Survey
Information will be used to further prevent and control Lyme disease

Poughkeepsie… Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases have been an important health issue in Dutchess County since 1986.  Legislator Donna Bolner (R - LaGrange) and Chairwoman of the Tick Task Force encourages residents to participate in a survey on ticks and Lyme disease.  The information received will be used to measure people’s knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors on the subject. At the completion of the survey, participants can follow a link to watch a presentation by Dr. Richard Ostfeld of the Cary Institute for Ecological Studies titled, "Lyme Disease in 2012: The Worst Year Yet?"

Bolner stated, “Ongoing education, research, and prevention initiatives are key to reducing the incidences and prevalence of tick-borne diseases. While the majority of county residents are knowledgeable and concerned about Lyme disease, there are still those who are uninformed about other tick-borne diseases.  With the Tick Task Force we are committed to environmentally responsible tick control and we encourage residents to modify personal behavior to preventing exposure to ticks.”

The survey can be found by clicking on Tick Task Force.  For more information please visit the Dutchess County Department of Health or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
