Dutchess County Public Transit Advisory Committee
 

The Dutchess County Public Transit Advisory Committee is advisory in nature to Dutchess County Public Transit and Dutchess County Department of Public Works, Division of Public Transit and provides advice regarding the following matters:

  1. Identify and comment on consumer issues related to the transit system's physical equipment. Physical equipment includes but is not limited to items such as buses; transfer instruments; bus shelters; wheelchair lifts; etc.
  2. Identify and comment on consumer issues related to the design of the combined transit system. Design issues include elements such as distance between bus stops; bus stop locations; bus routing; service standards; hours of operation; customer service telephone information office; fare structures.
  3. Advise on the preferred balance between the various types of service the agency intends to offer:
    1. Local circulation service, usually routed
    2. Intercity Service
    3. General public; senior and persons with disabilities demand-responsive service
    4. Express commuter service
  4. Review and comment on items related to marketing communications. Marketing communications includes issues such as signage; legibility of printing materials (i.e. schedules); quality/ value of disseminated marketing information; effectiveness of transit promotions.
  5. Identify and comment on items influencing consumer perceptions and behavior, including but not limited to bus operator attitudes; safety; ease of use of the public transit system; convenience and reliability of transit service and facilities.
  6. Review of quality of service issues, including periodic review of customer complaints
  7. Review and comment on the efficiency of public transit services.

The Dutchess County Public Transit Advisory Committee meetings are held bi-monthly on the last Thursday at rotating locations throughout Dutchess County.  Agenda Packets with location information is posted below.

Universal Transportation Accessibility Task Force

The mission of the Universal Transportation Accessibility Task Force is to improve mobility and access for all customers using Dutchess County Public Transit services and facilities and to ensure accessibility for persons of all abilities by advising Dutchess County Public Transit on elements of equitable and universal transportation, including:

  • Engaging public involvement in planning and decision making for those requiring transportation
  • Ensure benefits and burdens are distributed equally across all income levels.
  • Ensuring transportation services provided by Dutchess County Public Transit is universally accessible.

As defined by the County Legislature Resolution 2017138, the Special Needs Transportation Task Force (previous name) is responsible for examining ways of communicating with the special needs population ways of accessing public transportation and encouraging open dialogue between the County and this population of residents. The task force is tasked for the next 12 months to focus on transportation needs within the County of Dutchess with unique challenges.

The Universal Transportation Accessibility Task Force meetings will be held at various locations throughout Dutchess County.   Meetings are scheduled for the last Wednesday of every month from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and location information is shown in the agenda packet below.
