Dover man arrested for Felony DWI

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Mark Knapp (34 yoa) of Dover on Sunday May 18, 2014 in the Town of Dover for DWI, BAC .08% or more, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st, all E-felonies, as well as Operating a Motor Vehicle without an Ignition Interlock Device, a misdemeanor, and Speed in Zone & Driving Left of Center Marking both traffic infractions.

At approximately 9:50pm, a deputy sheriff on patrol observed Mark L. Knapp operating a 1992 Chevrolet northbound on State Route 22 in the Town of Dover while speeding in zone and driving over the center lines. A traffic stop was conducted and Knapp was subsequently arrested for DWI.

Both DWI charges were felonies due to the fact Knapp had a prior conviction for Aggravated DWI within the prior ten years, that being on September 9, 2013 in the Town of Dover. The AUO charge was a felony since his license was revoked for a DWI related offense and he was intoxicated while operating the vehicle. That revocation was on September 9, 2013 for the Aggravated DWI conviction and he also had another revocation on the same date for a traffic offense during a conditional-restricted license program. Knapp was arraigned in the Town of Dover Court and remanded to DCJ on bail to appear back in Dover Court on May 20, 2014 at 6:00pm.

*All subjects arrested and charged are alleged to have committed the crime and are presumed innocent until proven guilty and are to appear in a local court at a later date.
