Woman Arrested For DWI While Having a Child in Her Car

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Tonya L. Lamb (26 yoa) of Poughkeepsie on Smith Street in the City of Poughkeepsie in the early morning hours of June 11, 2014.

At approximately 2:34am Deputy Sheriff Neil Stuart who is the county's STOP-DWI patrol officer, observed Tonya Lamb operating a 2004 Honda in a northbound direction on Smith Street. The vehicle was exceeding the posted speed limit and was also being operated without headlights or taillights on, only having the running lights on. Investigation revealed that Lamb was intoxicated and she was subsequently arrested for DWI. She had three passengers in the car one of whom was a 10 yoa female. The other two passengers were adults with one of those being the child’s mother.

Lamb was charged with DWI a misdemeanor, Aggravated DWI an E-felony (Leandra’s Law for operating a motor vehicle while being intoxicated and having a passenger less than 16 years of age in the vehicle at the time), speed in zone, operating without headlights and refusing a pre-screen all traffic infractions. She was released to appear in the City of Poughkeepsie Court on July 14, 2014 at 9:00am after posting desk bail. The vehicle was driven from the scene by one of the passengers who was sober.
