Missing person in the Town of Northeast (Updated 7/14/14)

**Update to the missing person press release**

Be advised that the search for Mr. Spear has ended; it is believed that he has been located, and at this time it is no longer necessary to search for him or report any possible sightings/leads to the Sheriff’s Office.

A subject meeting Mr. Spear’s description was found deceased in a wooded area close to where he was last seen, and evidence at the scene strongly suggests that it is him. The investigation into the death is continuing in conjunction with the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office, and at this time it does not appear to involve any suspicious circumstances or foul play.

More information may be released as it becomes available.

ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance with locating a missing person in the Town of Northeast.

Peter D. Spear, age 28, was last seen on foot at the intersection of State Routes 199 and 22 at approximately 9:00 am on Sunday 7/6/14. Mr. Spear is from New York City and had been staying with friends in the Pine Plains area, at which time he left with the intention of taking the train back to NYC.

Mr. Spear was in the process of walking to the Wassaic Train Station (Route 22 in Amenia) when he was given a ride by a passerby, who dropped him off at the intersection of 199 and 22. Several leads have been investigated since Mr. Spear was reported missing, however none have been successful in locating him. At this time, no information exists to suggest that Mr. Spear is in any kind of danger.
