Sheriff’s Office investigates fatal crash in Fishkill

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation into a one-car fatal auto crash, which occurred on Baxtertown Rd in the Town of Fishkill at approximately 3:35 pm on 7/12/14.

On the above date and time, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Baxtertown Rd near Stonykill Rd for a report of a serious auto accident. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the accident involved one vehicle with four occupants, and that two of the occupants had suffered life-threatening injuries. All four people were transported to various hospitals for treatment, after which one of them died at the hospital. The occupants are listed below, along with the hospital they were transported to and their last known condition.

  • Siobhan Dolphin, age 18 of Fishkill: passenger, died at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital.

  • Dillon A. Harrison, age 20 of Wappingers Falls: passenger, stable condition at Westchester Medical Center.

  • Spencer A. Eisenhuth, age 21 of Wappiners Falls: passenger, critical condition at Westchester Medical Center.

  • Carmine Sorvillo, age 27 of Wappingers Falls: driver, treated for non-life threatening injuries at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer being operated by Mr. Sorvillo was traveling westbound on Baxtertown Rd when the driver lost control. The vehicle then crossed over into the opposite lane, went off the road and struck a rock wall, several trees, and a utility pole before finally coming to rest. Unsafe speed is thought to be a significant factor, and at this time there is no indication of drug or alcohol involvement.

The investigation into the crash is continuing by members of the Sheriff’s Office Detective Division and Crash Investigation Unit, in conjunction with the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office and the Dutchess County Medical Examiner. The Sheriff’s Office was also assisted in the investigation by the Town of Fishkill Police. More information may be released as it becomes available.
