Two arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of two (2) subjects for drug possession during a traffic stop on Route 9 in the Town of Poughkeepsie at approximately 8:00 pm on 8/19/14.

On the above date and time, a Deputy observed a vehicle traveling westbound on Fulton St with no front license plate, and also observed the vehicle make a right hand turn onto Route 9 without signaling. The vehicle was then stopped on Route 9, at which time the operator was identified as Timothy A. Vail (age 43 of Hyde Park) and the passenger was identified as Jessica A. Langschultz (age 30 of Poughquag). After further interviews and investigation, both were found to allegedly be in possession of controlled substances; Vail was found to be in possession of someone else’s Oxycodone pills, and Langschultz heroin.

Vail was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree (Class A Misdemeanor) as well as the traffic violations, and Langschultz was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree (Class B Felony). After being processed Vail was released on appearance tickets, and Langschultz was held for arraignment. Langschultz was arraigned before the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $1500 cash bail or $2500 bond, and is due to appear before the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on 8/25/14 at 4 pm.

As with any criminal case, the charges described here are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. More information may be released as it becomes available.
