Poughkeepsie Man Arrested after Fleeing from Deputy Sheriff

On Sunday September 7, 2014 at approximately 3:13am Deputy Sheriff Ryan Petrus observed a 2010 Honda make in improper turn off Haight Avenue and then fail to keep right on Fairmont Avenue in the Town of Poughkeepsie. He attempted to stop the vehicle on Manchester Road but the operator failed to comply, fleeing into Manchester Garden Apartments eventually going behind one of the buildings on a dead end road in the complex.

As the vehicle was still in motion and nearing the end of the road the operator and sole occupant jumped out and fled on foot. The deputy then pursued the suspect on foot thru Manchester Gardens over a fence and onto the property of Cavalry Cemetery where the suspect was located and taken into custody. The vehicle stopped on the grass just before a wooded area not damaging any other property.

The suspect Daryl Jackson (41 yoa) of Poughkeepsie was subsequently charged with DWI, BAC .08% or more, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor vehicle 3rd, Reckless Driving, Suspended Registration and Unlawful Fleeing all misdemeanors as well as No Insurance, Improper Turn, Failed to Keep Right, Speed not Reasonable, Failed to Comply and Open Container of Alcohol in Vehicle all traffic infractions.

Jackson was released after posting bail and is to appear in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on September 23, 2014 at 3:30pm
