Dover woman arrested for stabbing

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Amanda L. Morse, age 34 of Dover Plains, in connection with a stabbing incident which occurred on 12/9/14 at approximately 11:30 am. Mrs. Morse is accused of stabbing her husband in the leg with a steak knife during a dispute.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 22 Maple Lane in Dover at approximately 11:40 am on 12/9/14 for a report of a suicidal female that had possibly stabbed her husband. Upon arrival the female, later identified as Mrs. Morse, was located uninjured at the scene however her husband was gone.

Further investigation led to Mr. Morse being found by Deputies at another location in Amenia, at which time he was treated for a stab wound to his leg. Mrs. Morse was taken into custody at the original scene (22 Maple Lane), and the knife was recovered there as well.

At this time, Mrs. Morse has been charged with assault in the 2nd degree, a felony. After being processed, she was arraigned before the Town of Dover Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

As with any criminal case, the charges described above are merely accusations and Mrs. Morse is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
