Sheriff’s Office to Celebrate 300th Anniversary

Dutchess County Sheriff Adrian “Butch” Anderson is pleased to announce that 2017 is the 300th Anniversary of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office. Celebration of this momentous occasion will occur at various times, and in various ways, throughout this year and further information will be provided as the year goes on.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office was formed in 1717, and has had been led by 73 Sheriffs since its inception. The first Sheriff was Corneles Van DenBogart who served from 1717-1721 and there have been 72 others since, including the current Sheriff Adrian “Butch” Anderson who took office in January 2000. The Sheriff’s Office has come a long way from its modest beginnings in 1717 to the full-service law enforcement agency it is today, and Sheriff Anderson looks forward to highlighting that extensive history as part of the 300th Anniversary celebration this year.

Sheriff Anderson is extremely proud of the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office, the history behind it, and the role that it has played in Dutchess County law enforcement. Sheriff Anderson is pleased to be able to highlight this Office and its many accomplishments over the last 300 years, and more information will be provided in the coming months.
