2018 Annual Report Highlights Work of Dutchess County Government
County Executive to present 2019 State of the County on February 27th at the Culinary Institute of America

Poughkeepsie … Dutchess County Executive Marcus J. Molinaro has submitted the Annual Report for 2018 to the Dutchess County Legislature, pursuant to the requirements of the Dutchess County Charter. The annual report provides an overview of the County’s finances, as well as highlights the work and activities of the Executive Branch of county government over the past year.

County Executive Molinaro said, “Dutchess County Government employees continue to go above and beyond each day to best serve our residents, united in our vision to effectively and efficiently serve our county. This Annual Report details for the Legislature the broad array of services and programs County government provides the community throughout the year, delivered by dedicated employees who strive provide the highest quality of service each and every day.   I urge residents to explore this report to gain a better insight into how numerous departments make Dutchess County stronger in countless ways.”

The annual report features a review of Dutchess County’s financial condition, including continued work to find efficiencies and savings, shared services with local municipalities, and evaluate programs and services to reduce costs where possible. Collectively, this work has resulted in the stabilization and strengthening of the County’s finances, as well as the fifth consecutive year of a county tax levy reduction for residents and the fourth straight property tax rate reduction in 2019.

The report also features a summary of the activities of the Executive Branch departments of Dutchess County Government, demonstrating the continued hard work and dedication of Dutchess County Government employees.   Among the work activity highlights:

  • 9-1-1 Communication Center Public Safety Dispatchers handled 254,197 emergency calls
  • More than 13,000 seniors served by the Office for the Aging.
  • Over 40,000 contacts by phone or text through Dutchess County’s 24/7 HELPLINE
  • Over 4,600 weight and measuring devices inspected and verified for accuracy
  • 226 additional acres of farmland and open space preserved
  • More than 1,500 individuals diverted from jail into pre-trial and Alternative to Incarceration programs
  • Performed over 3,400 food service inspections
  • 1,756 children evaluated for Early Intervention and Preschool Special Education programs
  • Facilitated 40 adoptions
  • Over 1,800 individuals trained to use Narcan
  • Over 1,500 site visits to public water supplies ensuring water quality
