ALL Pavilion, Auditorium & Chapel reservations end 1/2 hour BEFORE Park the park closes.

Insurance Requirements now apply for ALL reservations made in the name of a business, organization or non profit  regardless of any beer/wine permit request. Please contact park office for more information and questions. 845-298-4601.

Bouncy Houses/Castles are not permitted in any Dutchess County Park

Maple Knoll Lodge - park will not provide additional tables or chairs other than what is included in the facility. Seating is based on the # of chairs provided. Maximum capacity limit is 60 people as enforced by fire and building code - no exceptions.  - Permit holders that exceed this capacity limit can loose security deposit. 

Wilcox Park; Entrance fees when the swimming lake is open. If you have a reservation for a pavilion at Wilcox Park your guests entrance fee is included in your fee - you pavilion guests must provide your name and pavilion name at entrance. Call park office for more information.

RESERVATIONS are made ON-LINE. Credit Cards are now accepted. Choose to pay by check or cash? No problem! Please print your application, sign it and attach your check and mail it to the park office within 7 days, if paying by cash please visit the park office. PAYMENT IN FULL is due within 7 days of your reservation date.

 Bowdoin Park; Mapleknoll Lodge and Auditorium / Community Center facility: You are required to inspect the facility upon your arrival - any damage not reported upon arrival could be subject to your forefiture of secuirty collected.  Please notify park staff or office.

We cannot hold, or accept partial payment or take reservations over the phone, but you can visit the Park office or an On-line account set up is easy and convenient.  Reservations for ALL park facilities are to be paid in full within 7 days of making reservation.  FAILURE to do so will result in automatic cancellation of the reservation.  Cancellations with less than fourteen (14) days advance notice will NOT be entitled to a refund. Cancellations made more than fourteen (14) days prior to the reservation date will have a $50.00 (Fifty Dollar) service charge deducted from the fee prior to a refund. All facilities are rented on a rain/shine weather condition, no refunds will be granted due to weather. Security fees (when required) are refundable ONLY after facility has been inspected and found as it was presented. Refunds of security can take up to 6 weeks to process. Security fee will not be returned if you serve or your guests have alcohol without a permit.


INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS  - FOR ANY reservation made in the name of BUSINESS, ORGANIZATION must provide the required Insurance. This also applies to any beer/wine permit request.

Insurance is obtainable on many on-line special event sites, must include HOST LIQUOR LIABILITY. Must be submitted 4-6 weeks prior to reservation date for approval. In addition, an individual may submit as proof of insurance a copy of the declaration page from applicants homeowners insurance policy with personal liability  limit of $1,000,000 per occurrence.

For businesses and organizations: (a) Commercial General Liability with limits not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence.  Such insurance shall cover liability arising from premises, operations, independent contractors, product-completed operations, personal and advertising injury and liability assumed under an insured contract.  There shall be no endorsement or modification of the Commercial GL form arising from work performed by subcontractors. The County of Dutchess, 22 Market Street, Poughkeepsie, NY, 12601 must be listed as additional insured and certificate holder.

(b) If applicable, Statutory Workers Compensation and Employers Liability coverage for all employees, including corporate officers and sole proprietors.

(c ) If required by the County, Umbrella/Excess Liability with a limit of not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence/aggregate.

For individuals, businesses and organizations: the insurance should be from an insurer that has an A.M. Best Rating of “A” or better.

Indemnification: Permittee agrees to defend, indemnify and hold the County of Dutchess harmless from any and all claims, lawsuits, liens, demands and causes of action arising out of the activity (ies) that is the subject of this Application. The person signing this Application has the express authority from the business or organization to agree to this indemnification provision.

INSURANCE MUST INCLUDE HOST LIQUOR LIABILITY for BEER/WINE PERMITS   A permit will not be issued for the use of facilities and/or beer/wine until the certificates of insurance naming Dutchess County as additional insured has been approved by the Director of Risk Management. If these requirements have not been met by your business / organization, and or beer/wine is on the premises without an beer/wine permit, Park Staff  will evict the party from the building and premises.  Hard liquor of any kind is prohibited at any County Park; only beer and wine are permitted with an beer/wine permit.  You and your guests wll be escourted from park property without proper beer/wine permits.

Proof of age in the form of valid drivers licenese is also required.

No Beer/Wine or food is permitted in the Ellessdie Chapel. 

Alchohol is not permitted or allowed on the beach or open picnic areas at Wilcox  Park, Bowdoin Park or Quiet Cove Park, William R. Steinhaus Dutchess Rail Trail (WRS DRT) or Harlem Valley Rail Trail.



NO PERMIT will be issued to anyone under 21 years of age.  MAPLE KNOLL LODGE MUST BE MINIMUM OF 25 yrs of age to rent. ID required, name on reservation must be the same as the payment information. Proof of age is required. A valid Drivers Licenses must be faxed to park office as proof of age 845-298-4609. No individual under 21 years of age will be permitted into buildings/rooms unless accompanied and supervised by an adult 21 years of age or older, who is issued the PERMIT. The person to whom the PERMIT is issued is responsible for the conduct of all members of the group. All persons are expected to conduct themselves in a decent and respectable manner; not to infringe upon the rights and comfort of other patrons; to obey the Park Rules and Regulations; and to heed the instruction of the Director of Parks, Park Managers and their employees in regard to such matters. Loud noise of any type is prohibited; alcohol is prohibited; skateboards are prohibited.  A PERMIT MAY BE CANCELED AT ANY TIME WITHOUT REFUND DUE TO FALSIFICATION OF APPLICATION AND/OR IMPROPER BEHAVIOR.  BRING YOUR PERMIT and IDENTIFICATION WITH YOU.


Wilcox Park -

  • Groups consist of ten (10) or more persons.
  • Groups wishing to use the park facilities must call park office 4 weeks in advance, insurance required, entrance fees must be paid in advance of arriaval. 
  • Groups will be admitted to the park between the hours of 10:00am and 7:00 pm Monday through Friday. 
  • Staff member to group member ratio must be a minimum of 1:10. Any variation must be approved by the Director of Parks.
  • Groups of handicapped persons in need of assistance must provide adequate supervision. If staff leaders realize this is not ample supervision, they must provide a higher ratio of supervision than the minimum of 1:5.
  • Staff leaders (individuals in charge) must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Groups are subject to park rules and regulations, a copy of which is available in the park office. If these rules are not abided by, the park reserves the right to refuse admittance.
  • Groups intending to use the waterfront that are regulated by the health department and are required to supply their own lifeguards must supply the park office with a copy of their group’s particular requirements and the accompanying lifeguard’s certification cards at least two (2) weeks in advance of arrival. Although there are specific ratios that apply to groups depending upon age, for the purposes of ease in enforcement, the waterfront director will inquire and determine whether there is at least one (1) lifeguard for each 50 bathers accompanying the group. Lack of this adequate ratio will prohibit a group from using the beach area. Lifeguards accompanying groups are to be responsible to the waterfront director at all times and in no way do they supersede county parks supervisory authority.
  • Group leaders must report to the First Aid Station prior to group admittance to the waterfront. The waterfront director or assistant waterfront director will then discuss the day’s plan and determine the group’s compliance. Please show all current certifications.
  • No beer/wine is allowed on the beach or in open picnic areas.
  • Smoking is prohibited in ALL Dutchess County Parks
