Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus expressed his support of Mount Gulian Society’s grant application for a Trail Interpretive Plan under the New York Department of Environmental Conservation’s 2007 Hudson River Estuary Grants Program.
In a letter to Elaine Hayes, Executive Director of the Mount Gulian Historic Site in Beacon, the County Executive said, “The State funding will enable Mount Gulian, an important Dutchess County historic site, to expand its current educational programming, which would benefit both residents and tourists alike.”
“We believe this project has extremely positive potential not only for southern Dutchess County, but for the entire Hudson Valley. We greatly appreciate the support of County Executive Steinhaus in our efforts to receive this important State funding,” said Ms. Hayes.
Steinhaus concluded, “I am pleased to support Mt. Guilian’s efforts to obtain this grant. With the grant award, they will be able create a “Living History Trail” along the banks of the Hudson River that will certainly add interest and educational value to the site.”
