Dutchess County Presents Check to Arts Council Annual Fund
Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus presented today a county check totaling $87,790 to the Dutchess County Arts Council Annual Fund. The presentation was made at the annual Arts Fund Kick Off Breakfast held on the Vassar College Campus for nearly 200 local business leaders, arts council board members, volunteers and recipient art agencies.
Dutchess County Government is the largest single contributor to the fund in 2002, and has contributed $417,136 over the past five years.
The County Executive noted, "Our commitment of county funds to the arts is an important investment and a significant component of our local economy. Our investment helps sustain the health and vitality of the arts community. In addition, all our residents, no matter their ages, enjoy a richer quality of life and cultural awareness due to the county's support."
Sherre Wesley, President of the Dutchess County Arts Council said, "The County's steadfast commitment is one of the key reasons the arts thrive in Dutchess. The arts contribute to our economy and quality of life, and help make this a wonderful area."
