Poughkeepsie ... Dutchess County Executive, William R. Steinhaus,
announced he has approved an agreement to provide approximately $172,700 to the
Dutchess County Community Action Agency, Inc. for the acquisition and
rehabilitation of 4 Cross Street in Beacon. These funds are available through
the county's HOME Investment Partnership Program. which is funded by the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development, with additional support being
provided by Key Bank.
Steinhaus said, "This project involves the rehabilitation of what is now a deteriorated, unoccupied building on Cross Street into two two-bedroom apartments for low and moderate income households. Our involvement represents the county's continued commitment to the revitalization of Beacon's Main Street; this is the fifteenth building on Main Street to which the county has provided rehabilitation dollars."
The project is expected to be completed in the Summer of 2001. Persons interested in renting the units should contact the Community Action Agency at 845/452-5104.
