Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus has announced the signing of two contracts with the Martin Luther King Jr. Cultural Center that will ensure home delivered meals and a variety of transportation services to Beacon area senior citizens.
According to County Executive Steinhaus, “Limited transportation options continue to be one of the major issues affecting the quality of life for our county senior citizens. These contracts will make transportation available to seniors for day-to-day activities like shopping and doctor’s appointments that many of us take for granted.” The signed contracts call for $15,000 to fund the Dial-A-Van program and an additional $20,000 for Home Delivered Meals and Senior Friendship Center Transportation.
Martin Luther King Jr. Cultural Center Executive Director Dot Paulin stated, “I am very pleased that our valuable relationship with the County and the County Executive will enable us to provide these much needed services to Beacon residents.”
