Poughkeepsie... County Executive William R. Steinhaus has announced the county will host a free breakfast meeting to inform and educate adults who work with and support young people about the Search Institute’s Forty Developmental   Assets.  Parents, community leaders and volunteers or agency staff who are unfamiliar with the developmental assets framework are encouraged to attend the Dutchess County Developmental Youth Assets Breakfast on Friday, November 3, 7:30 to 9:30 AM at the Poughkeepsie Elks Lodge, 29 Overocker Road.

According to Steinhaus, a longtime community champion for youth development, “The Search Institute's Forty  Developmental Assets is a proven guide that consists of concrete, common sense, positive experiences and qualities essential to raising successful young people. During critical adolescent years, these assets have the power to influence choices young people make, and therefore influence their entire lives in a very positive way.”

“Everyone—parents and guardians, grandparents, teachers, coaches, friends, youth workers, employers, youth and others can build assets.  It doesn’t necessarily take a lot of money or mean more programs.  What it takes is building relationships, spending time together, and being intentional about nurturing positive values and commitments,” says Youth Bureau Executive Director William Sanchez.

County Executive Steinhaus will make welcoming remarks, and   DC Youth Bureau Executive Director, William Sanchez, will be the keynote speaker. The Dutchess County Developmental Youth Assets Breakfast is sponsored by the Dutchess County Children’s Services Council Youth Asset Team and the Youth Bureau.
