Poughkeepsie… County Executive William R. Steinhaus has announced Dutchess County’s most recent eGovernment initiative, ParcelAccess, is now available at no charge on the County Website (https://www.dutchessny.gov/). ParcelAccess provides residents, property owners, and professionals with on-line access to map-based parcel and assessment information. County Executive Steinhaus said, “It’s exciting for county government to bring ParcelAccess to our community. As part of my ongoing effort to provide our residents, businesses and local municipalities with 24 hour a day on-line services, we continue to enhance the menu of items we have available. ParcelAccess is an extraordinarily valuable addition to our county website.”
Another great feature of ParcelAccess is its connection to the County’s existing GeoAccess website mapping application. This allows users to view additional map layers such as district boundaries, locations of emergency services, railroad stations, trails, parks and much more.
ParcelAccess is a joint project between the county’s Real Property Tax department and Office of Computer Information Systems (OCIS). ParcelAccess provides:
ssessment data which is updated each year on May 1 for the tentative assessment rolls and July 1 for final assessment rolls;
parcel search by either property owner name, address or tax parcel lot number;
user friendly map controls with zoom, panning, parcel ID and print features;
links to County Clerk filed maps and parcel dimensions;
tax parcel boundaries overlaid on the County’s aerial photography; and
parcel "Property Card" print capability, including tax parcel and assessment information as well as parcel imaging.
According to Kathleen Myers, Director of Real Property Tax, “It is so important that assessment information be easily available to property owners. By joining assessment roll data, tax maps and aerial photography, we are able to deliver that information in a simple, easy to understand format. Internet access is not only convenient, but a positive step in promoting public awareness of the assessment process.”
Tim Mahler, Commissioner of the Office Computer Information Systems (OCIS) said. “We share County Executive Steinhaus’ goal of utilizing the County website to provide regularly used services traditionally requiring a trip to County offices or local municipal office buildings. We are aware time is increasingly valuable to people, so it’s especially gratifying for me and my staff to be able to develop such an important service like ParcelAccess to the community.”
Email testimony to the County Executive from an early user confirms the value of this new service. “…THANK YOU to whoever moved this project through! It is a huge service to practitioners like myself who practice outside of Poughkeepsie! It is great!”
County Executive Steinhaus concluded, “As demonstrated through this email message, our investment in technology by county government benefits multiple users in multiple ways. It saves time and gas, both expensive commodities these days, and ParcelAccess is available free to users. We’ll continue to look at new and additional innovative ways to expand such services to the public.”
