Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus has announced the Dutchess County Parks Department will sponsor a FREE summer concert at the Bandshell at Bowdoin Park on Saturday, July 11th starting at 4:30pm.    The event will feature four local bands, followed by a spectacular fireworks display at dark.

“Nothing says summer like a picnic in the park enjoying an outdoor concert followed by a spectacular fireworks display,” said County Executive Steinhaus.   “So mark your calendar for a night of great music on the hillside at Bowdoin Park, overlooking the beautiful Hudson River.”

Concert goers will be able to enjoy a variety of music styles from three local bands showcasing their talents.

• No Brakes, a blue grass band will get the music started at 4:30pm. 
   
  
• Last Call, a classic rock band, will perform at 6pm.
  
  
• The Big Band Sound, a 20 piece jazz band performing classic jazz, will perform songs from artists such as Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey and more.    The Big Band Sound will perform at 7:30pm.
  
  
• The Sundown Band, a southern rock and roll tribute band, will round out the evening when they take the stage at 8:45pm.

Refreshments will be available for purchase from Bailey’s Bar-B-Q with desserts by Ideal Delights. Following the concert performances, Legion Fireworks will put on a spectacular firework display.

“Grab your lawn chairs and blankets, pack a picnic and head on over to Bowdoin Park.  We have playgrounds to enjoy, trails to explore, water spray turtles to cool off in with an evening of great entertainment all at price you just can’t beat – FREE!” concluded County Executive Steinhaus.
