Poughkeepsie…Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus and Commissioner of Public Works Charles Traver have announced two bridge projects in the Town of Hyde Park are progressing on schedule, with the North Cross Road bridge reopening to traffic earlier this week and work beginning on the second half of the bridge on Crum Elbow Creek.
“Thanks to our hard working Public Works crews and a cooperative attitude from Mother Nature, we have been able to make substantial progress on our two bridge projects in Hyde Park,” said County Executive Steinhaus. “We are pleased to have both bridges open to traffic while work progresses.”
North Cross Road bridge, known as bridge H9, in the Town of Hyde Park reopened earlier this week with one lane with alternating traffic directed by a traffic signal. The bridge had been closed for just over one month. The bridge is now open to vehicles weighing less than 8 tons.
Another bridge in the Town of Hyde Park, bridge H20 over the Crum Elbow Creek on Crum Elbow Road, has been undergoing staged construction. Work has been completed on one half of the bridge, allowing one lane to be reopened to traffic. Work has now begun on the second portion of the bridge and is anticipated to be complete by late fall.
