Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus and Commissioner of Public Works Charles Traver announced bridge D13 over the Ten Mile River on Lime Kiln Road in the Town of Dover reopened to traffic today.

“Our Department of Public Works employees have done a tremendous job balancing several critical bridge and road projects this year,” said County Executive Steinhaus.  “We are very pleased to have the Lime Kiln Road bridge project completed and reopened to traffic.”

Bridge D13 was closed in April to complete rehabilitation of this steel truss bridge which was originally built in 1939.    Work involved replacement of structural steel, replacement of the bridge deck, and repainting of the bridge. The rehabilitation work was strategically designed to retain the truss, preserving the character of the bridge and surrounding area.

Nearly 1,200 vehicles utilize bridge D13 on a daily basis.   The project was completed on schedule and the approximate final cost was $1.5 million, which was fully funded with federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) dollars.
