Sunday, August 28^th 11AM Update

Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus provided the following information from the County’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) following the 10:15am briefing.

Additional agencies now in the Emergency Operations Center:

·  New York State Office of Emergency Management officials as well as FEMA officials are now co-located at the County’s Emergency Operations Center.

·  FEMA has its new state-of-the-art Mobile Communications Vehicle on site at the Emergency Operations Center.

911 Center:

·  Over 400 calls to the 911 center from 12am to 10am Sunday.    Most calls reporting flooding, with increasing calls reporting downed power lines.

Dutchess County Sheriff Office update:

·  Dive team and boats have been staged in Amenia, Pleasant Valley and Wappinger to assist in any necessary rescue or evacuation operations.

Dutchess County Public Works update:

·  Some county roads closed, due to flooding and/or downed power lines.

NYS Department of Transportation update:

·  Minor flooding being reported in various areas including Route 44 in the Town of Washington/Pleasant Valley area and NYS Route 376 in the area of Airport Drive in Wappinger.

Central Hudson update:

·  In addition to the Central Hudson crews,  additional resources are being pulled into the area including:

• 30 crews from Topeka, Kansas
  
  
• 41 tree trimming crews
  
  
• 13 contractor line crews

·  Major restoration will be taking place early tomorrow morning (Monday).

River and Creek levels:

• Projections for the Ten Mile River have now increased to a 12.1 feet crest level by 2pm today.    Debris that gets carried by flood water is a concern, as it can cause related road and property flooding.
• The projection for the Wappinger Creek remains the same.  It is expected to crest at 12.8 feet by 2am on Monday.     Expected to be a rapid rise in water level, but water will be slow to recede.
• The projection for the Fishkill Creek also is expected to crest by mid-day on Monday.
• Hudson River experiencing minor flooding, including flooding at Waryas Park in the City of Poughkeepsie.

American Red Cross:

• Currently have shelters locations open at the Civic Center in the City of Poughkeepsie and at Taconic DDSO in Wassaic.
• Preparing other shelter locations if necessary in Red Hook at Red Hook High School and in Wappinger at Roy C. Ketcham.
• Shelter information is available by calling 2-1-1.

Dutchess Medical Reserve Corp (MRC):

• Assisting American Red Cross with mental health and other non-medical volunteers to assist with shelter operations.

Residents are also reminded to call 9-1-1 ONLY in the event of an emergency.
