Dutchess County Comptroller Gregg Pulver will join District Attorney Anthony Parisi and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office for two fraud prevention seminars dedicated to educating Dutchess County seniors.

“As technology evolves so do scams,” said Comptroller Pulver. “I’m looking forward to educating the County’s older population and providing them with the tools they need to combat these threats.”

Sheriff Kirk Imperati said, “In law enforcement we are focused on holding the perpetrators of scams accountable, but also doing whatever we can to protect potential victims by educating them about how the scams work and what to watch out for. Our hope is that these seminars are able to reach as many people as possible to help protect them and take the scammers out of business.”

District Attorney Anthony Parisi said, “Empowering our community through education is the first line of defense against fraud. These fraud prevention seminars are vital in equipping our seniors with the knowledge and tools to recognize and prevent fraudulent activities, ensuring a safer environment for everyone.”

The seminars will include a variety of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Recent/common scam types;
  • Tips for fraud prevention, and
  • What to do if you’ve been scammed.

The events will be held on:

  • Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 2-3 PM at the Farm and Home Center in Millbrook and
  • Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 2-3 PM at the Senior Center in the Town of Wappinger.

RSVP is not required.
