Effective March 23, 2020 Beacon and Millbrook Motor Vehicle Offices Closed Until April 3, 2020

POUGHKEEPSIE, NEW YORK:  Dutchess County Clerk Bradford H. Kendall has announced that effective March 23, 2020 through April 3, 2020, the Beacon and Millbrook offices of the Dutchess County Department of Motor Vehicles are closed.  The Pawling Department of Motor Vehicles will also remain closed during this time.  These closures are in response to COVID-19 and further determination whether to open or remain closed will continue to be reevaluated.

The Poughkeepsie and Wappingers Department of Motor Vehicle offices will remain open under the current restrictions to wit:

• Dutchess County DMV’s will only process transactions for Dutchess County residents.
• All car and motorcycle permit testing is suspended.
• Commercial Driver’s License permit tests will continue to be offered Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• License transactions will be limited to license renewals, name changes, address changes and reciprocities from other states.
• Applications to exchange standard driver’s licenses for REAL ID/ Enhanced Driver’s Licenses will only be processed in conjunction with the renewal process. No other upgrade applications will be processed at this time.

This action is taken in accordance with the Governor’s directive to reduce staffing. As such, staffing at the Poughkeepsie and Wappinger offices will be reduced.

We urge our customers to:

• Only bring in the number of people necessary for your transactions. We need to limit occupancy in the offices.
• Visit www.dmv.ny.gov for routine transactions. More than 60 transactions are available online.

The County Clerk Filing/Recording counter and the Record Room remain open at this time.
