County Clerk Kendall: Be Aware of Unofficial DMV Webpage

Published: 10/1/2009

Poughkeepsie...  Dutchess County Clerk Bradford Kendall is warning residents to be aware of an unofficial webpage that advertises the ability to renew vehicle registrations.  The webpage is not connected to or authorized by any state and or county office.

The webpage www.dmvauthority.org has claimed that New York State residents can renew their vehicle registrations on line by using this site.  However, County Clerk Kendall is quick to point out that the website is “bogus and nothing more than a cheap attempt to take advantage of the hardworking residents of Dutchess County and New York.”

Clerk Kendall stated, “This webpage, which is currently under investigation by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and the State’s Attorney General, asked for very sensitive and personal information, including credit card information. This should be a red flag for residents.”

Kendall added, “I encourage all Dutchess County residents to either renew their vehicle registrations in person at any Dutchess County DMV office, or mail them directly to the Dutchess County DMV, 22 Market Street, Poughkeepsie NY 12601.”

Clerk Kendall concluded by saying, “Renewing one’s vehicle registration locally through the County DMV is not only the safest and most accurate way to renew, but it also keeps a portion of the transaction in Dutchess County, rather than 100% going towards the state.”
