County Clerk Kendall: Record Retrieval Company Again Targeting Homeowners

Published: 10/5/2010

Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Clerk Brad Kendall is again urging residents to be aware of a New York City based land record retrieval company that is again mailing letters to county residents informing them that for a fee of $59.50  the company can retrieve a certified copy of their deed and mail it back to them.  On their webpage, the company states that they will obtain a copy of the deed from the County Clerk’s Office.

Clerk Kendall stated, “It has been brought to my attention that New York Record Retrieval is again targeting homeowners with carefully worded letters, that has had concerned residents contacting my office.”

The Clerk continued, “This is nothing more than an opportunity and quick way to make money off the hardworking residents of Dutchess County,” he said. “There is no reason a Dutchess County resident would need to reach out to a third party to obtain a certified copy of their deed from my office.  We routinely provide a certified copy of a person’s deed for a fee of $11.00.  We accept a check, money order or cash.  This company is asking for credit card numbers which is another red flag for this company.”

Anyone who receives this letter from New York Record Retrieval and has questions about their deed or any other legal document may contact Clerk Kendall at
