Poughkeepsie, New York: Dutchess County Clerk Brad Kendall has announced that usable eyeglasses can be donated at any one of its Division of Motor Vehicle (DMV) offices. Eyeglasses collected will be forwarded to the Lions Club International through their Recycle for Sight program.
According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 120 million people are visually impaired because of uncorrected refractive errors (far and near sightedness). Refractive errors can be easily diagnosed, measured and corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses or refractive surgery. Yet, millions of people lack access to these basic services.
Drop box locations are accessible Monday through Friday 9 AM – 5 PM, with noted exceptions.
